This week, N-House invited Ying Ling from Xfer and Charmaine from Visa to hold a workshop on design thinking. In this in-house workshop, N-house residents learnt concepts in design thinking. Both Ying Ling and Charmaine were NOC alumni. They decided to conduct the course on design thinking after interning as designers in their respective companies during their time in NOC. benefiting much from design thinking, they decided pass on this knowledge to future batch of N-house batchmates.
At the start of the course, Charmaine challenged the audience to create an ideal. With no specific concept in mind, many participants struggled with creating one that deviates from most wallets in the market.
Using this activity, Charmaine showed how traditional framework does not sufficiently encourage designers to think out of the box.
Charmaine then proceeded to walk the residents through the design thinking framework:
- Empathize
- Define
- Ideate
- Prototype
- Test
