AY16/17 Sem 2 Week 5: Customer Acquisition Strategy for Entrepreneurs
On 8 February 2017, N-house hosted its weekly event: Wicked Wednesday. This week’s topic was Customer Acquisition Strategy for Entrepreneurs. Different from previous event, this sharing session ventured into the world of marketing and growth hacking. As such, it drew a large crowd from all walks of life.
The speakers on this topic had successfully used customer acquisition strategy to build a customer base. The first speaker, Grey Chen, was the CEO for Tinymos, a astronomy camera producer. Through customer outreach on mass media, Its product, Tiny1, was 365% funded on kickstarter. The second speaker, Kenneath Lou wsa the CEO of Seedly, a financial management tool. Using social media advertising and content marketing, his apps received significant attention and downloads.

Grey was the first speaker of the event. He gave an introduction of his company, his astronomy camera product, Tiny1, and his customer acquisition strategy. As he managed to draw attention from prominent tech website such as Mashable Cnet, Grey shared on how he leveraged on news agencies and media and tech bloggers to gain traction.

Next, Kenneth shared about his experience in customers acquisition for Seedly. Using social media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy, Seedly successfully reached out to 8000 organic audience with $3000. As such, he shared little tricks in drawing customers’ attentions, such as getting into the front page of the app store.

During the questions and answers session, the audience actively participated in the open dialogue session with the speakers. Topics ranged from market discovery to dealing with competitors.
